Who we are
silkywhisky.com is published by Reeves & Co, a Paris-based independent publisher operated by François Reeves. We have no commercial affiliations with whisky producers, distributors, or distilleries.
What we publish
A cost-floor model and a quality grade applied to every notable bottling in our coverage. The ratio market price ÷ intrinsic value is the multiple. The multiple is the entire purchase decision compressed into one number.
Editorial commitments
- We do not accept brand advertising.
- We do not accept sample-for-review arrangements.
- We do not accept paid placement in any leaderboard.
- Bottlings scored on this site are sourced from public retail price feeds only. Editorial staff may receive promotional samples in a personal capacity; samples never enter the scored dataset.
On premium pricing
Premium pricing is not, in our model, a synonym for irrationality. Some buyers pay above intrinsic value because they want brand association, reputation, packaging, scarcity, gift weight, collector value, resale durability, or simply because they enjoy buying things from producers they trust. The fashion, watch, art, and collector spirits markets show that this preference is widespread, legitimate, and rational on its own terms. silkywhisky's valuation framework describes what portion of a bottle's market price reflects the cost-and-quality model and what portion reflects everything else. The framework does not claim the 'everything else' is unjustified — only that it is the part of the price not explained by the liquid. Readers who value the brand, the heritage, the collectibility, or the experience of buying a particular bottle are entitled to weight those factors as they wish. We provide the math; the purchase decision is yours.
